Alison Kimberly
Alison Kimbley is a Metis educator who has strong connections to the Indigenous community. She is proud of her heritage and recognizes the value of promoting culture and pride for indigenous people. She works with students and community members to strengthen understanding and awareness of history, culture, and traditions.
Alison is currently an Indigenous Advocate with the Regina Public School system at Thomson Community School, prior to assuming this role she taught in several community schools in Regina. For a number of years, she has taught students Metis jigging and engaged Elders and community members to provide traditional teaching to students.
Alison completed a Masters in Public Policy from the Johnson Shoyama Graduate School of Public Policy and a Bachelor of Education through the Saskatchewan Urban Native Teachers Program (SUNTP) at the University of Regina. She is currently studying the Cree language.
Her commitment to building inclusive communities extends to participation in a number of community organizations including serving as a member of the Board of Directors for Regina YWCA, New Horizons Dance Group, and the SCEP center (for children with high needs) all of which involve committee work, project leadership, and strategic planning exercises. Creating positive change at the community level is a passion that drives Alison to be a part of community groups and contribute to the non-profit sector as a volunteer.
